Southwest Farm Fresh on the rise!

2015 will be a big season for Southwest Farm Fresh! This year, in addition to our wholesale program, providing local food to restaurants, hospitals, schools and small grocery stores in Southwest Colorado, SWFF is offering its services to select businesses in Durango in the form of a wellness plan. These “direct sales,” will be run by me, Dana Thompson, the newest member of SWFF!IMG_8109

The idea of the wellness plan came after much contemplation about how to run the new “direct sales” program, funded by a grant from the Colorado Department of Agriculture, called “Enrich Colorado Ag Grant Program.” The Enrich Colorado Ag Grant Program was created by the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) to provide necessary funding for technical and operational issues, research, sales and marketing needs for food and agricultural products that are grown, raised or processed in Colorado.

Becoming a member of the Southwest Farm Fresh Cooperative wellness plan allows employees of businesses who are signed up to have access to local food without ever having to leave the office. The local goods will be delivered to the office after employees order through our online portal. This is a wonderful way to encourage wellness and a healthy lifestyle in the office, while supporting local farmers. We have two wonderful local businesses signed up so far, and are looking forward to inviting more people to participate in our co-op.
